Shelby Valley Scrimmage

By the way, Shelby Valley has a very, very nice football field.

In the first scrimmage, each team ran ten plays from scrimmage and Burton scored once with Shelby Valley not scoring, they had one wide open TD with no one in sight and the receiver dropped it. Overall not to bad for a first scrimmage and a couple of starting lineman on the sideline.

Then, Sheldon Clark took it too Pikeville, don't know how they are ranked as high as they said they were, #4 in the state or whatnot. I think Sheldon Clark scored twice to Pikeville's 0.

Then, Burton came out and took on Pikeville, in which they held us pretty well the entire ten plays until play 9 when Ethan Stewart took off 50 yards for a score on a QB Draw. Pikeville then proceeded to go about 60 yards on Burton's 2nd String so Jimbo brings back in the the 1st team D since Pikeville was running their 1st team and Pikeville had 5 more plays from the 1 yard line and never crossed the goaline so Burton won that one by a score of 6-0 or one score to zero however you want to say it.

But overall, not a bad first scrimmage and I guess the real test is going to be next friday. Hope I explained everything right. It was hot. And again, man, very nice facility for the Wildcats of Shelby Valley.

Shelby is going to be competative,they have got a pretty decent line and a real nice QB who can lay it on yhe money,they had us Burton beaten twice in which one was caught and one was dropped.Our D is going to keep us in every game and sooner or later someone is going to bust one for us,i heard coach say overall c+,Miles and Peters ran hard betwenn the tackles with some good gains,and Coleman,Sensabaugh,and newcomer Devin Talley,kept the sweeps going,Coleman also hauled in several nice catches,and scored on a jet sweep from 6 yards out.In a 4 quarter game in my opinion Burton would beat either Shelby Valley or Pikeville by atleast 3 TD's.Now Sheldon Clark which we didnt get to play was the next best team in my judgement,like to of seen a couple of quarters of Burton and them.Pikeville looked to be the weaker of the four,lots of trash talking and dirty play according to my son,and not much backing it up,gladly whip them anyday.

Overall not a bad showing for Burton, but they need to find a few lineman. Defense is in pretty good shape though. Does anyone know why Burton didn't play Sheldon Clark and why they played SV 3 times?

I didn't know they were playing more. So Burton played Shelby Valley another 2 times after the Pikeville game? Was it mainly the 2nd teams that played?

Also did anyone else hear the announcer say when Pikeville took the field that you will be watching one of the premier football programs in Eastern Kentucky? I thought Sheldon Clark and Shelby Valley looked better than them. I don't know maybe my eyes are going crazy on me.

The Panthers are the 2nd-highest ranked team in EK right now.

The Bluegrasspreps.com Preseason Poll has Pikeville #4 in Class A & Sheldon Clark #8 in Class 3A (with district rival Belfry at #3). Also, Bell Co. is #2 in 4A, Middlesboro #9 in 2A and Cumberland & Hazard #9 & #10 in A (if you didn't know, Ky. went to 6 classes this year).
